In this medical malpractice proceeding, plaintiff seeks damages for the amputation of her leg, which she contends was caused by a breach in the standard of care during treatment for a fall and subsequent leg injury.
Plaintiff suffered an arterial blockage in her leg when her knee was dislocated in the fall. She claims that defendants, an emergency room physician and physician assistant, did not do enough to discover, diagnose, and treat the arterial blockage in time to save her leg.
The defense contends that the healthcare professionals followed appropriate protocol in diagnosing and treating plaintiff's injury during the time they cared for her in the ER, including calling an orthopedic specialist and informing the specialist of the arterial blockage as soon as they learned of it.
For the plaintiff: $7,652,848.18.
